A Dreamweaver extension is an addon or plugin if you will that expands on the core functionality of the Dreamweaver program itself. There are hundreds if not thousands of Dreamweaver extensions out there. And with new ones being produced all the time. Its the easiest way to simplify and automate processes using Dreamweaver.

These can be as simple as inserting a completed form in Dreamweaver or a user registration system without the need for hand coding. To a Designer or Developer anything that can be used to speed up the process of creating a website means better use of time and increased productivity, which inevitably means increased revenue in your business.

You can find most extensions in the adobe exchange which has close to 1500 extensions in an easily searchable database, but we would advise to search the internet aswell before making any your choices of which extensions to use as there are some real gems out there that are not listed on the exchange.

Extensions are added via the Adobe extension manager which enables you to easily add or remove them with a few clicks.
